Sandwich Central School
Lower Multi-Age students combine art, history and music
to create impressive replicas of many of the historic buildings in our beautiful town!
"This autumn the Lower Multi-Age classes at the Sandwich Central School visited us at the Historical Society. They toured the Elisha Marston House, Quimby Transportation Museum, and we took a walk up Main Street to look at and talk about the old houses.
Inspired by their visit, and the diorama of the village made by the Quimby School students in 1933, which is on display at the Elisha Marston House, the students decided to create their own model of the village. The amount of research and work they did to make their models is truly impressive. The details include gluing rock onto the outside of the Library and little bricks onto the model of the brick store in Lower Corner.
I am in awe of all their efforts and happy that the Society had a small part in inspiring them."

2024 Opening Day Highlights ~ June 29
Sandwich Cane Recipient
Virginia "Ginger" Heard
Ginger shared the following message, an excerpt from an article in the New York Times, with the large crowd that had come out to honor her as the recipient of the Sandwich Cane ~ "... Age is a gift, a chance to keep growing, learning and experiencing life in new ways. It's about defying limitations and embracing the possibilities that lie ahead. So, for anyone else pondering the future, remember - it's not about positively accepting age, it's about actively living each day to the fullest, wrinkles and all."
