From the Vault: More Treasures from the Collection
 2011 Exhibit
 June 30 to October 1, 2011

Over the years, we have accumulated an extensive collection of family papers, records of town organizations and businesses, maps, newspapers, and tapes from oral history projects.  Our photograph collection has well over 9,000 items documenting the history of Sandwich.  More recently, we have focused on the reorganization of our documentary collection and the vault storage. We have also endeavored to improve the accessibility to our collection. The basic organizational structure of our collection was presented in the 2008 Annual Excursion Bulletin and has been listed on the Society’s website.  This list is continually being updated as more work is done on the collection. We also wanted to showcase some of the treasures that we were rediscovering. An exhibit seemed the best way to show these collections for the benefit of the public.

The exhibit this year expands upon the 2010 one and features a special exhibit in honor of the centennial celebration of the Weeks Act, which led to the creation of 52 national forests, including 780,000 acres of the White Mountain National Forest. There is also a section about the cemeteries of Sandwich.
